Veterans Disability.

Veterans that have a service connected disability receive a monthly tax-free benefit.

Veterans that have a service connected disability receive a monthly tax-free benefit. The veteran must have been found to be at least 10% disabled because of injuries or diseases that were incurred in or aggravated during active duty, active duty for training, or inactive duty training. The disability can be a physical condition, such as a chronic back problems, or a mental health condition, such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

The benefit amount is based on a scale from 10 percent to 100 percent. These disabilities may be for conditions that occurred during service or are related to the circumstances of military service. They may be for conditions that arose during service or conditions that arose after service but are still service connected. Compensation for disabilities is also designed to provide compensation for substantial loss of work due to the disabling condition or illnesses.

An additional allowance may be added for dependents if the combined disability is rated over 20%. Military retirement pay, disability severance pay, or separation incentive payments may reduce any compensation paid for disability. Disability resulting from injury, heart attack, or stroke during training may also qualify..

Evidence Required (as per VA regulations)

Medical evidence of a current physical or mental disability, AND
Evidence of a relationship between your disability and an injury, disease, or event in military service.
